Activities

Activities are planned around the children and their interests. I also use observations to plan activities which help children to develop and progress through the EYFS. I try to adapt each activity so all children can take part.

I have a large range of toys suitable for a variety of ages, such as wooden blocks, duplo, happyland, dressing up, food and different games. The children can self select from low storage to encourage independence. We also enjoy playing with playdough, mark making with chalk, washable pens and paint, and creating cards and other art activities. These are linked in with children’s interests and current events such as birthdays, religious festivals and other world events (such as the World Cup or the Olympics). I am a member of my local toy library so I can offer an event greater selection of toys.

I am lucky to live close to a park and a nature reserve so we spend lots of time visiting those, as well as local play-groups and the library. I am also a member of the National Trust so we make regular visits to our local gardens at Nymans and Sheffield Park. During the summer we also visit Brighton and further into the Sussex countryside.
